CIC pauses intake of new applications for Parent and Grandparent sponsorship

Posted on 14 Feb'14 Tags: , , in Canada and US Immigration

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has already received 5,000 complete applications for 2014 and has paused the intake of new applications under the Parent and Grandparent sponsorship program until next year. Canadian citizens and permanent residents interested in sponsoring their parents or grandparents for permanent residence in Canada should assess their eligibility for the program and be prepared to submit the applications as soon as the program reopens.

Super visa continues to be a quicker way for Canadian citizens or permanent residents to bring their parents and grandparents to Canada. Super visa is valid for up to 10 years and allows the parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to two years.
